BRIAN BOWES YORKSHIRE OAK CARVED BIRD WALL PLAQUE
A fantastically rare Yorkshire Oak Bird of Prey plaque carved by former Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson craftsman Brian Bowes. Created from a single piece of oak, the plaque has a carved bird motif to the middle, which shares much in common with items by the well acclaimed and collectible craftsman Stan Dodds.
Interestingly, Stan Dodds carved a Woodpecker onto his pieces, Robert ‘Bob’ Hunter carved a Wren onto pieces and Albert Jeffray carved an Eagle motif onto his items.
Brian Bowes was trained by Robert Thompsons during the 1960s and eventually left in the late 1970’s. Brian was known to have carved a Salmon onto his work, making him an established member of the ‘Yorkshire Critters’ movement.
