Exhibited at the  Douglas Pittuck Exhibition 11th -13th June St Marys Parish Hall Barnard Castle

Gudrun was a girlfriend of Pittuck’s son John.  The muted palette suggests an earlier work leading to an overall sombre tone, reinforced by the piece being unfinished.  As in his wider canon, Pittuck experiments with figurative work, this portrait shows a strong 20^th century influence with some abstraction. The Match and A guided tour of Melrose Abbey show different approached to painting figures.
