ROBERT MOUSEMAN THOMPSON RARE CLASSIC ADZED OAK DINING SUITE MADE FOR THE CASTLE EDEN BREWERY
A lovely classic Mouseman Dining Suite originally commissioned by Castle Eden Brewery for their boardroom in Co Durham in memory of the chairman William John Nimmo 1890-1952. It has a 7ft fully adzed dining table, the top has a rectangular adzed top with period pegged construction over fox tongue jointed planks and stands on four carved octagonal legs one with carved signature mouse, at floor level it is joined by a single chamfered stretcher
The 8 original chairs are of panel backed armchair design fully adzed and each having a period mouse signature in high relief
The whole suite has been lovingly restored by our own expert team, including new leather Bridge of Weir tan hide to seats

This table has an inscription to the table edge to William John Nimmo and one of the armchairs has the company shield carved in recess with the motto ‘I SHOW NO BOAST’
“I Show No Boast” was featured on the campaign for the company’s bottled beer in the 1870s. War lead to production difficulties but William John Nimmo 1890-1952, grandson of the founder, took over as chairman following death of son in law, John Ingledew Hopper in 1908 aged 28
Castle Eden Brewery was founded in 1826 at the Castle Eden Inn and was bought by Whitbread Plc. for £2.1million in 1963
